Hello there!  Just wanted to take a few minutes to talk about stress with you.  With everything going on around us right now, stress and anxiety are at an all time high.  We’ve traded the stress of our day to day jobs with fear and anxiety over the health of our loved ones and ourselves.  I’m with you in the thick of this and I am here to say that focusing on the negatives will not help us at all – if anything it hurts our immune systems which is what we need to be building up.  Stress increases the release of hormones that keep our bodies in the “fight or flight” state which hinders our ability to repair and protect ourselves from the damages of our environment and diseases.

I recently did a live feed on my instagram page about some self-care tips to help you de-stress during this wild time.  Since those live-feeds disappear after 24 hours, I wanted to give you a few tips that I went over with my viewers.

  1. Meditate – take some time each day (even short bits throughout the day) to focus on the breath and be in the moment.  There are tons of guided meditations on YouTube to help – there are even ones on Spotify!
  2. Move – a little light movement – such as qi gong, tai chi, yoga – anything that combines the breath with movement is a great way to improve your immune system while decreasing stress
  3. Medicate – using food and herbs though haha! There’s a reason that we crave sweets and such when we’re stressed – its comfort food – but too much of it usually leaves us feeling uncomfortable.  I suggest grabbing a small treat with a cup of tea – mint, chrysanthemum, or even something with echinacea can help calm the mind while improving your immune system
  4. Follow me for more tips!
